My New Pattern – Lionheart Socks!

It’s been a few weeks, but I’ve had my reasons. Slightly under the weather in the past week (not the C). I managed to finish my sock tube and it’s now waiting for heels and cuffs and to be split apart which will in the next week or so, I’m still not sure what kind of contrast colors I want to use.

I wrote a new pattern for my 2021 club, the Eleanor of Aquitaine Sock Club. These are the Lionheart Socks. Like all of my club patterns, they’re written for both toe-up and cuff down knitting, with charts and written instructions. I like making sure all of my patterns are fully reversible since it was a problem I used to run into when I started knitting socks. I’d find a cuff-down pattern and then being a toe-up knitter at the time I would have to reverse it myself or skip it. I also try to make sure my patterns are fairly repeatable so you don’t have to have the charts out constantly. I tend to do a lot of my samples and tests while watching shows with subtitles and looking down means rewinding a bit. I’m still holding out hope that a few of my pattern photos will be taken in France in the Aquitaine and that’s still a strong possibility still either when I go or when my mom goes.

The pattern was inspired by Richard I, also known as Richard the Lionheart. He was the son of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II. You can see the inspiration photo here.

If you want to knit the pattern along with us, you’ll need to join the club (Ravelry) || (PayHip), and you’ll need a 100g skein of sock yarn.

The next pattern will drop in early November. I’m still working on getting some rewrites done with a couple of my older patterns that I want to republish and reformat. I’ve learned a lot in the 5 years I’ve been designing. I would also like to include versions that don’t have photos to make it easier for downloading and formatting on smaller devices.

As for other projects, I’ve got a Halloween themed pair of vanilla socks that I’ve had on the needles for multiple years that I’m trying to finish up, I’ll probably do some monster socks with the leftovers for the KAL that’s run by some of my favorite Instagrammers. There are a couple of other projects that keep picking up which will get some love here soon too.

I hope you’re all having a good September and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
